June 11 2022 : 100 Mile House
A new event emerged on the scene in the South Cariboo the weekend of June 10-11. For a recap of the live broadcast from the Bounty Bull check out Episode 023 over on Cameo Radio on thereallifenetwork.com. The stands were packed both nights and the food provided by Pam’s Food Service was incredible. Bannock Tacos! The event raised funds for the new memorial Foundation. 40% of the entry fees went to the Foundation, and 60% of fees went to the competitors. One of the goals of the LP Foundation is to raise awareness about CTE’s, colloquially known as concussions. The Foundation is quite new, stay tuned as it becomes more established and gets further into its work.
Some might wonder, why fund-raise for concussion awareness at an event where people can get concussions? One of the initiatives of the LP Foundation is to work and advocate within the Rodeo Circuit to re-orient the culture and policies around how quickly athletes “get back on the horse” - quite literally. Awareness will help the circuit find ways to increase the awareness around CTE’s, the lasting impacts of head injuries and post concussion recovery time for athletes. Also, raising awareness about the lasting impacts of multiple CTE’s on a person’s mental health throughout their life is a worthwhile endeavor.
Big thanks to everyone who helped pull this event off. It was great to see the Little Britches Rodeo Grounds back in action after so much time has passed!
