Gym Owner David Potter recently returned from a court appearance to dispute “COVID fines” he received after a visit from Interior Health in tow with the 100 Mile RCMP in 2021. On the Government of Canada website we find the following about the Canadian Charter : “it is the highest law in all of Canada” and “it is one of our country’s greatest accomplishments”.
David reported the following
“They came into my gym and asked me if I was asking for 'Vaccine Passports' and I told them that I refuse to violate the Charter Rights of our Members.”
In his statement David is referring to section 1. Guarantee of Rights and Freedoms and section 2. Fundamental Freedoms a) Freedom of conscience.
The first fine delivered to Potter's gym was $245. A month or so later the gym was issued a second fine for $2300. David is currently disputing both of the tickets in court. The first ticket was thrown out recently because the “issuing official wasn’t there to defend his claim”. Does this not demonstrate that the whole thing was a giant waste of everyone's time, emotional energy and resources?
The situation speaks to the woeful inability of our so called Officials, who work within our local collective, to recognize the so called “Highest Law of the land”. Is there some other law they are following? It also begs the question whether they are even qualified if they are unable to consider the issues in reality and for the real people whom they serve.
As demonstrated by the huge support show locally during the “Truck Convoys” - a great many people simply object to the very concept of “Vaccine Passports” (which are the first iteration of Digital ID). The truth is: the objection has nothing to do with the vaccine treatment itself, the objection is on the basis of conscience which is protected under the Canadian Charter.
David himself is a conscientious objector! The RCMP and Interior Health went into David’s business and asked him if he was violating the Highest Law in Canada- they then fined him over an illegal and un-lawful requirement of the Province in an attempt to coerce him into violating the trust and conscience of his members. That goes beyond ignorance and truly exposes the corruption of these individuals at the level of institutionalization.
Institutionalization is an often-deliberate process whereby a person entering the institution is reprogrammed to accept and conform to norms or controls that enable the institution to manage behavior.
Keep it real David. We at the Village Voice wish you the best in your next kangaroo court ticket dispute appearance.
Stay tuned for part two to find out the result of David’s ticket dispute.
