Live on Scene at the Jan 23rd Boulevard Party!
Greetings Wildflower!
Today upwards of over 500 people lined Highway 97 in 100 Mile House.
They stretched from the Visitor Info Centre to Kal-Tire on both sides to cheer on trucks and truckers as they made their journey South in the Truckers Convoy!
I personally engaged with most participants at the rally (phew!) and while I didn’t have time to engage in deep discussions with everyone, I did hear some interesting stories.
Generally, everyone was really excited to hear about the new Community Gazzette and Events Calendar.
I saw people I haven’t seen in years! Lots of hugs were exchanged and some interesting stories were told.
The first important story is firefighters petition has accumulated well over 3000 signatures. And there are some exciting plans for action on this front! Sign-up here to receive an email when the details are released to the public!
A school district employee relayed information from dealings with the Union. The Union rep indicated they believe the Trustees will continue to defer mandate decisions due to the already precarious staffing situations in schools. From bus drivers to janitors the schools can not lose any more staff and continue to function. Interestingly, two bus routes were down on Friday the 21st due to bus drivers who were un-well. It was suggested that both of the drivers were vaccinated. Would be interesting to hear from these people.
Donna Barnett was in attendance cheering alongside the community she served for many years in Elected Office. What a wonderful sighting! No currently elected officials were noticed on scene. It is unknown if reporters from the “Free Press” (the local branch of the Black Press) were actually in attendance or not.
All in all it was a fun event, with high energy and lots of excitement about engaging in support, expression, promotion of choice and learning about new things!
To all in attendance - Thanks for showing your Cariboo Strength! That was a really fun event! If you haven't already, don't forget to SUBSCRIBE.
And remember, who is coming to save us? Hint it isn’t the existing structures of government... time to work together locally.
Sincerely, a Wildflower
