Today was the grand opening of the Crafter’s Market!
I had personally had a difficult experience under the previous iteration (ownership?) of the Crafter’s Market during the mask virus in late 2020 and to my absolute delight I was greeted today by a huge smile from Rossco and his signature, hand built Model Steam Engines at the door.
I was promptly greeted by more smiles first from Becky, then Claudette and mid way I found Christina busy in the Bakery!
We explored the aisles topped to the brim with locally crafted items. Of particular charm to my two year old daughter were the hand felted characters, crocheted hippopotamuses and wooden snakes.
As we made our way to the back of the Market, the smell of baking arose. My daughter chose a huge peanut butter cookie and I had a hot cup of coffee.
Christina was lovingly and vigorously tending to the bakery and I managed to catch her attention for a couple minutes to get some of her story.
“It’s all about local encouragement, to spur on crafters and artists but it’s also about the local food producers too. We also provide a fair bit in the organic niche. I’d like to see it continue to grow. Bigger, better”
The Market is truly a team effort on the part of the three women who participate, with Christina lending her energy to the vision aspect of the operation.
I was pleasantly surprised, I left with a huge smile and a bag of goodies.
I hope to see this local hub continue to move in the direction of service to the lives of Real People in our local collective.
Congratulations on a SMASHING grand opening!
Pictures purposefully left out as you just HAVE to go see it yourself!
